Movie Review on Knowing

I haven't been to the movies in about 4 or 5 months and decided to go see "KNOWING" with Nicholas Cage.  It was in some ways different from other movies that are about disasters that happen, yet some features were the same.  The ending is what keeps me thinking about it today.

It starts with a time capsule being buried by elementary students.  The teacher prompts them all to draw pictures to put in the capsule.  One little girl scribbles a bunch of numbers, but the teacher includes it in the capsule anyway.  After fifty years have passed, another set of elementary students has the honor of opening the capsule.  The pictures are passed out to the students, including the one with nothing but numbers.  This is the point in the movie where things get interesting.

Nicholas Cage plays a college professor and is intrigued by the paper his son brings home from school.  He figures out the sequence of the numbers and eventually determines what they all mean except for the last three that have not happened.  The first event that has not happened, he is on the freeway racing somewhere when a plane crashes.  At this point he becomes a sort of hero on the news and turns to another colleague for help.  Cage tells his friend he feels it is a race against time that is running out. I don’t want to ruin it for you, so check it out at the theater or on dvd when it’s available.
