Nearly everyone loves movies. Some people enjoy thrillers while others prefer romance, comedies, adventure stories or documentaries. Whatever your taste preference in films, why not start your own DVD collection? Going out to the movie theater can be expensive, especially in a time of economic stress. You can always rent DVDs, but sometimes you fall in love with a motion picture so much that you just have to have your own copy to watch over and over again. Many television series are available on DVD and you can purchase an entire season for far less than it would cost to buy the DVDs separately.
Begin your DVD collection by first listing all the fun titles you know you want. Then, you can search online by your preferred genres to make sure you haven’t left out any of your favorites. A couple of good places to do this are Netflix and Blockbuster. They’ll be happy to rent them to you, but you can also use their search engines to find titles to buy. Blockbuster sells previously viewed DVDs, which will save you quite a lot of money over the retail price for new ones.
All of their previously viewed HD DVDs can be purchased for only $7.99 a piece. If you’d rather buy them new, you can find the best deals at either Wal-Mart or Target. Another idea is getting them through a mail order catalog, such as Columbia House DVD Club. When you join, they’ll give you five DVDs for $.49 each and that includes free shipping. Make sure you read the fine print in the contract. Know that you’ll be locked into purchasing a set amount of DVDs within the year at the Club’s regular price.
