Planning a Movie Night at Home with Friends

If you have a TV and a DVD player you can always just put a movie in and watch it. This is not near as much fun as inviting friends over for a DVD movie night. Here are some steps to take to make it a successful and memorable DVD movie night with friends.

Make an event out of the night by sending out invitations to friends in advance. Select a theme for the night and have the invites fit into the theme and inform your guests of the theme. The theme can be anything you want it to be like 80’s, Horror, Classic movies, Romance, etc. You can either select the movie ahead of time or choose several that go along with your theme and have the group decide which one they want to watch.

No gathering is complete without food. Of course popcorn is a must for a movie night but you will want to have other snacks or foods available. Select theme related food. For example, if your movie is set in the South you could serve fried foods and iced tea. Decide if you will serve dinner or just have snacks. Allow for time before the movie to visit and eat as well as a 10 minute intermission of sorts to re-fill drinks and snacks.

Create a place where everyone can get comfortable to enjoy the movie. Dim the lights and turn up the volume for a theatre atmosphere. You might decide that you want to make a tradition and have a DVD movie night with friends more often.
