Starting a DVD Collection

Anybody enjoys watching a movie and if you want to start your own DVD movie collection, it is never too late to start. You could start by buying your favorite movie, making it your building block for your collection.

It can be overwhelming just thinking of all the movies that there are. So, if you would like to get some "Walt Disney" movies, consider getting the classic ones such as "Cinderella" or "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." By doing this with the other genres, you would have a variety of movies in your collection for any age.

These days you can buy new or used DVDs in many different places. Wal-Mart and Target offer a large variety of different movie titles at great prices. You can also buy DVDs through mail order catalogs, which usually involves a contract where you purchase a set amount of DVDs and receive a set amount free. Also, make sure that you understand their polices because if you fail to buy the agreed movies, the company will send you into a collection agency affecting your credit. Another great way of adding DVDs to your collection is by checking at garages sales, yard sales, flea markets, or online auctions.

Now that you have started your DVD collection, don't forget that you will need a place to store or display your DVDs. You can buy a DVD tower or holder to put almost anywhere. Next to the TV is a an appropriate and popular place. Decide how much you want to spend, how many DVDs you want to buy and how often you intend to buy a DVD. This will just ensure that it doesn't become a burden. Instead it will become a pleasureful hobby.
