A movie night at home can be so much more than just putting a movie in and plopping down on the couch. You can make a special event out of it that will be a night to remember for all involved. When planning a movie night you want to determine who you will be inviting to the movie night. Is it going to be a night just for the family, the girls, or a movie night with just your spouse? Here is how to plan a movie night at home for each of the mentioned groups of people.
When your family can’t go to the theatre, bring the theatre experience home. Provide popcorn, sweet treats, and drinks. You can get movie theatre sized candy at your local dollar store. Make the room as dark as possible and turn up the volume simulating the theatre.
Getting the girls together will take a little more advanced notice, especially if babysitters need to be arranged, so give plenty of notice for your movie night. Select a movie that you know will be a hit (Romantic Comedies are usually a good bet). Have a theme for the evening based off the movie you’ve selected and serve food that relates to it and decorate along those lines.
The key to a movie night with your spouse is no interruptions. If you have children make sure they are tucked in bed and well asleep or at another person’s house. Turn off the phones and pagers too. Select a movie you both agree on and serve food that is easy to make and clean up. Avoid watching the movie in bed because you just might fall asleep. Sit back and enjoy the movie and each other.
