With today’s hard economy, many people are choosing which areas of their budget they need to make sacrifices. One of the most undercut areas is entertainment costs. Fortunately, hard times does not have to mean sacrificing all entertainment. Movie lovers can still watch the biggest blockbusters or the not so recently released films at the local discount Cinema.
Going to matinees and second-run theaters can save on ticket prices. Matinees tend to have more children present; even the R-rated films get parents dragging the children along, because it is cheaper than hiring an eating machine, telephone grappling, and boy crazy teenager to baby sit. Second-run theaters will not run films until they have been out for at least a few weeks; but being one of the first people to watch a movie does not necessarily increase viewing pleasure. Despite these drawbacks, the substantial savings offered by attending matinees and second-run theaters are well worth it.
Better yet, by joining a movie club, movie lovers can save money by watching DVDs in the comfort of their own homes. To save money on movie rentals, people can join one of the many movie rental clubs that best meets their needs. Companies, such as Netflix and Blockbuster, offer several different rental plan options for movie lovers. Some of your local libraries may also offer DVD rentals for free.
Netflix is probably the most well-known movie rental company. The movies are received and returned through the mail. Different program options are offered for one monthly fee; consumers can order and watch movies, keeping them as long as they wish without having to pay any late fees. This not only saves money in late fees and gas for trips to the movie store, it can save one’s sanity as well by not having to haul children along for the ride.
The movie business is still alive and well, and with the world’s love affair with the industry, it will remain so for years to come.
